| Psychotherapy Psychotherapy is a set of techniques intended to improve psychological and behavioral problems in humans. Margaret utilizes an eclectic approach to this talk therapy in order to individualize interventions. Because sensitive topics are often discussed during psychotherapy, therapists are expected, and legally bound, to respect patient privacy and client confidentiality and follow all federal, state and HIPAA guidelines. Family Therapy This therapy is one in which the family is the unit of treatment or intervention. During the course of therapy, many or all members may be seen. Sessions may involve one or two members or the whole family. Sessions may focus on individual members or relationship pairs within the family; however, the focus is a change in interaction patterns at the family level. Couples Counseling Couples counseling involves helping people overcome the differences that naturally occur when two people live under the same roof. Couples counseling usually involves a joint session, followed by an individual session with each member of the couple and then followed with joint therapy. Typically, couples are given assessments to complete and homework assignments between sessions. Group Therapy Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves sessions guided by a therapist and attended by several clients who confront their personal problems together. The interaction among clients is considered to be an integral part of the therapeutic process. Life Coaching Life Coaching is not psychotherapy. Life coaching is used to aid clients with transitions in their personal life, and in the process of self-actualization. Life coaching draws from a number of disciplines, including sociology, psychology, career counseling, and numerous other types of counseling. The coach, or counselor, applies mentoring, values assessment, behavior modification, behavior modeling, goal-setting, and other techniques in assisting clients. Life coaching can be done face to face or by telephone. Clients are seen by appointment. Evening appointment hours are available. |
